Snow Dyeing Beauty

~

Wow! What do you think?

I couldn't wait to rinse the fabrics out so they were rinsed and washed last night and I've ironed them this morning. Some of the colours are subtler than I expected but I am absolutely thrilled with the serendipity of the marks. The fabrics were all cottons in various guises including a piece of scrim which has come out a dull muddy pink but is nonetheless useable.

I don't know if there's any other way to achieve these marks but I love them. The more you examine the fabric the more you see.

Fantastic results. Don't worry about the snow running out, seems we are in for a lot more from the early hours of tomorrow morning. Get your dyes ready!

fabulous effects! I'll keep an eye out for any snow here and rush out with sploshes of dye.

They are terrific Julie - well worth the effort.
I imagine you will be out there again sometime to set up another 'snow-dye' session.
I thought I was having fun yesterday when I was dyeing wool and silk with food colouring!!

would try it but arm now in plaster and not allowed to get it wet :=) would look great quilted or handstiched or,or......top one reminds me of when we used to grow crystals.

I've really enjoyed looking at this Julie - the snow dyed fabrics are fabulous! I love the pattern that the dyes produce.

I've avoided investing in those special dyes until now but have a feeling I may not resist for much longer!

Absolutely fantastic results with your dyeing Julie, but I am glad I am unable to try it - I don't envy you your snow, even if it is pretty to look at! We are having showery relatively cool days up here, not flooded and not in the heat waves down south. I shall be back to see the results of your next lot of snow dyeing. Cheers, Robin

Well, haven't they turned out brilliantly? Who'd have thought snow would give such results. I'm up to my ears in paint at the moment or I'd be giving this a go too. I suppose if the snow doesn't last, I could collect ice from freezer defrostings. Thanks for posting these.

Your fabrics are some of the most stunning "snow-dyed" fabrics I've seen! Wow, I'm speechless.

Hi, Your fabrics are absolutely gorgeous. I don't have snow, could I use ice cubes kind of crunched up? Keep up the fantastic work.

Your painterly background certainly has found a home in this wonderful technique. The effects are fabulous. Judging by some of the other posts, you get up to an awful lot Julie, and your eye for colour will go a long way in the textile world.
Sad to say I won't be at the NEC this year, I went to the trade show, but I am not demonstrating this time. Hope you have a great day.

This is really amazing. It reminds me of the effects I get when using alcohol inks on non-porous surfaces. So beautiful.
