This is the start of my August page for the Bead Journal Project. I decided to combine it with an ATC swap that I have joined entitled "Summer Garden". I have started by painting a piece of Aida with Neocolour Watercolour crayons which I then blended a little with water. At the top I started to stitch fairly randomly to suggest plants and grasses and added one or two pieces of fabric. Because the aida was stretching a bit I thought I ought to stabilise it so I bonded it to some vilene and then decided to bond randomly cut pices of organza, painted tyvek, painted nappy liner, and dried flowers from the garden. I am intending to continue to stitch over the surface, add beads and further fabrics to suggest the colours of a summer garden. When it's finished I shall cut it up, select 3 ATC's for my swap and then embellish the 3 cards I get back to make my August Journal page - well, that's the theory anyway!
Do you remember the copper labels I tried to verdigris last week? Well I got round to checking out the ones I wasn't happy with today. I had left them languishing in salt & vinegar potato chips for the past week and the result is much stronger than the first batch . They are definitely verdigris now! I am not sure whether any of the green will rub off so I am going to try coating them with acrylic medium in the hope that that will effectively seal it on. Then all I have to do is use them!

I like the start of your August page Julie. Looking forward to seeing it finished.
I love the verdis color, these turned out nicely. What are your plans for using them? Naybe you're like I am and just play to see what works!
I also like the new stitched piece very much.
Cathy Thank you for your comments. I have to confess I don't yet know how I will use these labels. Story of my life lol :o)) I think I will probably cut them up. Or maybe I could incorporate one whole into a collage, or maybe..... you get the idea!
eek Julie... when I tried varnishing my verdigris it made it all disappear! i've just had to leave my little copper verdi pieces as they are - it doesn't seem to wear off.
