Taking the plunge

I have been pondering whether or not to take an online course and have finally made up my mind to sign up for Sharon Boggon's "Studio Journal's - A Designer's Workhorse" course through Joggles. I have never done an online course before, although I have attempted distance learning through the Open College of the Arts. That was not the best of experiences as I lost momentum and didn't complete the course.

I am looking forward to doing this course with Sharon because it is only 6 weeks long and will be directed with exercises. The idea is not to create a beautiful Book but to develop a method of working which will enable you to create designs for textile work. Since I feel that I do not always know where to start with design I hope that this course will be a good grounding.

If any of you should be feeling at a loose end and need a little challenge you might like to look in at Susan's blog where she is offering a swap on the theme of the garden. It doesn't matter what you do as long as it is garden related. The deadline for signing up is May 10. Go on, you know you want to! ;)......I have!

Yay - I signed up too - keeping sketchbooks is an aspect of the OCA course that I'm really struggling with so I jumped at it. I get the impression that the community aspect is central to Sharon's courses so hope we'll all keep each other going :-).
