March Take it Further

Just popping in to show you my finished box for the "Small things"-inspired March TIF challenge.

I blogged about the initial stages of the box here . I've used a variegated metallic thread to stitch the box corners together but I'm not sure whether the stitch I've used has an official name. It was supposed to be whip stitch and I made the stitch in a figure of eight so that the corner remained clear of thread, if you see what I mean. I'm pleased that I've actually managed to make something and it's actually square! I have left this piece quite plain, although I have embossed a detail on the top. However, making this box has given me lots more ideas for other surfaces.

What a marvellous effort if you haven't been sewing for very long, Julie, I love the box, especially love the patterning on the surface. Is it fabric or paper?

I think this is wonderful Julie. I like the stitching on the sides and edges and love the colour. It's been nice to watch the progression through your postings.

Hi Julie
What a lovely little box, it really did work out well. I like the stitching, it shows off the fabric of the box really well.
